Tea comes in many forms even though it all comes from one plant. With each blend, there comes it’s own set of instructions. Here are some suggested steeping times for some of our favorite teas.
These steeping times are not rules set in stone; there are lots of exceptions. Lighter white teas might take less time, same for green teas.Maybe you have a tea in your cupboard that you tried and wasn’t your favorite? Maybe try adjusting the steeping time. Let the leaves infuse the water a little longer, maybe the flavor needed more time to develop. Or on the opposite end of the steeping spectrum, cut off the steeping a little sooner and bask in the delicate notes.
Also tea should first and foremost be prepared for taste. Like your tea so strong it could strip a layer of paint of the wall? Sure, steep it as long as you like! Want a light, airy tea that some might confuse for mere hot water? Why not, do it! Everyone’s taste is different.
