Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a classic American romantic comedy, starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, based on the novel by Truman Capote. The iconic opening scene portrays Holly Golightly (Hepburn), a whimsical social climber, window shopping at Tiffany’s, eating a pastry and sipping coffee as Moon River plays in the background. The film’s male lead, Paul Varjak, (Peppard), is Holly’s new neighbor who has a fascination with the eccentric extrovert.
Holly seeks to marry a wealthy man, since she has a penchant for the finer things in life. Paul, however, is a writer who hasn’t published anything in years, and is being supported by another woman. This does not stop him from wooing her, though. After many emotional trials and tribulations, including her scheming to marry one rich man after another, she realizes they were meant for each other, and she surrenders to her feelings for Paul.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s has inspired many teas after its whimsical fanciful themes, including one from Adagio Teas. This tea is described as a “Sweet blend of chocolate chip, coconut, and vanilla. Yum! This blend is perfect for mornings and dessert! Totally caffeinated to keep you going, just like Holly!” ~Gwen Martin, creator of this signature blend.
There is a high tea in Australia themed after the movie, complete with Tiffany-blue cupcakes. The plates are adorned with the iconic black dress, and many patrons even dress up as Hepburn for the tea. No Tiffany themed tea is complete without chocolates shaped like a little blue box.
A German company called Donkey Products even has Holly Golightly teabags, where Holly sits on the edge of your teacup.
