Is your garden in need of some visual interest? It’s easy to add inexpensive, artsy accents to your beloved garden, with planters made from your old, excess teacups or teapots. If you can’t bear to part with your existing tea accessories, they are easy to find in thrift shops and flea markets. The possibilities are endless when it comes to designing the planters! Hang them, set them on pedestals, create water features with them and add moisture-loving plant material.
Whatever you decide to do, make sure the planter you create has adequate drainage to avoid drowning the roots, and ultimately killing the plant. Drill small holes in the bottom of the container. If drilling holes could cause serious damage to the container, instead cover the bottom inch or two of the pot with small pebbles or stones. This allows the water to sit away from the roots, while acting as a reservoir for when moisture is needed.
Now your garden will have a light, whimsical feel, and you’ll have adorable focal points throughout. The hard part is over. Time to sit and enjoy your works of art.
