Time to kick your basic-flavored iced tea into an entirely other realm. This recipe flirts with greatness with an infusion of avocado (yes you read right!), ginger root, chili pepper (spice is nice!) and grapefruit juice.

Pairings

  • Citrus Ginger Green Tea, by Arbor Teas
  • Green Tea Ginger, by Tazo
  • Organic Tumeric Ginger Tea, by Republic of Tea

Prep Time: 10 minutes. Cook Time: 5 minutes. Yields Two servings.

Ingredients

  • 4 sachets loose-leaf green tea
  • 8 oz. filtered water
  • The juice of 1/2 grapefruit
  • 1/2 tsp. peeled, grated ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. finely diced Serrano chili pepper
  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 c. simple syrup
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 c. ice

Method

  1. Steep tea for three minutes in 8 ounces of filtered water brought a near boil.

Tip: This should be enjoyed fairly quickly as the ingredients tend to separate over time.
