My friend Susan went to Asia and all I got was this lousy tea

Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. My friend Susan did go to Asia last month, but what could be a more wonderful gift than tea? And especially this one. A 2013 Tie Guan Yin. But this is not the typical, original form from Fujian province, China. My friend Susan bought this at the Wistaria Tea House in Taipei, and it comes from the Mu Zha region in Northern Taiwan. Apart from the taste, my favorite thing about this prized oolong is the English name – Iron Goddess of Mercy. It just sounds like a great 80s metal band….

But it wasn’t so much my tea heritage that lead to The Daily Tea — partly it was business, and partly it was the experience of starting other media projects in Asia; if you do business in China, Taiwan or Japan, tea is omnipresent, and it doesn’t take too long to become a fan.
